MAC powder is the best. It gives the best coverage. It only runs around 19-23 for the compact powders. Trust me I tried every brand before and nothing compares to MAC.
For something less expensive than department store brands, but works well and is good for skin, go for Physicians Formula Talc-Free Mineral Wear Loose Powder. It keeps shine under control, makes your foundations last, and it won't clog your pores.

Bobbi Brown does some great face powders. I tend to use an oil free tinted moisturiser without powder though.
MAC! I love it! And for a cheaper brand i like the new Maybelline dream matte powder!
channel or dior - both of them are good
but depends on your age this one are good for ladies over 35-40
in case you are younger use max factor or elisabeth arden
Believe it or not, the more expensive a powder is doesn't mean it's more effective. Merle Normal loose translucent powder works great and is not as pricey as department store brands.
