What is the best face powder?

for covering up blemishes?

i am going to buy one tomorrow but can anyone reccomend a good one? i knwo that i will need concealer too but are there any powders that give a flawless cover?

and do u know how much they cost? xxxWhat is the best face powder?
the clinque brand has very good ones and they wont clog pores and the offer oil free ones to... they all cost around $20- $30 bucks!!!!!!!!!!What is the best face powder?
Bare minerals or Bees luscious.
bare minerals
MAC studio fix powder. its 25$ and its ammmazzzing i love it :)
I like Almay. They have a line of concealer, foundation and powders that have acne fighters inside so they not only cover but treat the skin. The cost around 12$ each.

Also Physicians Formula (~20$), and Revlon colour stay line (~16$) are quite good!
bareMinerals, hands down! It's worth every penny!
Bare Minerals all the way. It's more expensive, but you don't use as much. I would also look at using Smashbox primer (or another brand, but get a good one, again, worth it). You can get both on ebay for a little cheaper in stores, but you're looking $20-25 for bareminerals and $20-$40 for Smashbox Primer
I use the mac press powder to give me flawless look I think it cost up to $20 bucks
I live in the UK, Rimmel do a lovely one and I get it in the color 'Peach Glow' although I'm quite light it blends in with many different skin tones my friend recommended it to me and the color that I use is the one that she was using and she's a lot more tanned than me, its called 'Stay Matte; I adore it and If I could only have one item in my make-up bag it would be this, although a decent mascara wouldn't go amiss. The Rimmel mascara is really good as well if your looking for another one.

What would i buy face powder or a mix or cake / foundation?

im kind of oily skin and i seldom put something in my face but i think its about time to redo my beauty what product is best buys? What would i buy face powder or a mix or cake / foundation?
:)Cake/Foundation. I have the same skin typeWhat would i buy face powder or a mix or cake / foundation?
try press or liquid foundation. i've never tried cake foundation but im sure it's not good for oily skin. i cant imagine having that on my face all day.
It really depends on your preferece. Either way, I suggest Mary Kay foundations ($14). For a powder use Dual Coverage and for the liquid you want to use the Medium Coverage (it's specially formulated to work well with oily skin).
I use mattifying foundation all the time and it works great for my skin. It gives me the certain ';glow'; we women need when we're out of the house. If you're not willing to take risks of buying products in the drugstore, the color and smoothness Clinique gives my skin is nice. If over the counter however, I prefer L'Oreal products. =D
nothing I'm sure ur beautiful enough with out it
Forget foundations/cake and all that crap, for a natural look you should try a loose powder and if you have sensitive skin then try Clinique's loos powder, you don't need foundation that sinks into your poores, the loose powder doesn't layer on the same way, it smooths your skin without pasting on, you know?
Try oil-free foundations and powders. Every company has these products and they all work the same. I personally like using SHINE FREE. Pay close attention to your T- zone! Make sure your face is clean and moisturized before applying any make-up.

Where can i buy a white face powder?

i want a nice white face powder/foundation that will make my skin look really pale that will look very french with red lipstick and not look like face paint or anything. Anybody know where ic an find one? xxxWhere can i buy a white face powder?
You can buy the lightest shades of power from MAC. They have complete white powder. Any professional makeup should since they do a lot of mixing. I would suggest trying there first. They have always been able to help me with what I need. ( I have also seen it on their website so I know they have it)Where can i buy a white face powder?
a costume shop or party city
CLINIC it's good product in the mall
LA Minerals has some untinted mineral foundations on their site. The Hollywood one would have more coverage than the NoHoGlo one. They have samples you can try.

  • Can I use cocoa powder as a face mask?

I have seen facial products that contain cocoa. Can I use it as a face mask plain? It has so many anti oxydants, but will it clog my pores? Can I use cocoa powder as a face mask?
I guess you could use cocoa powder as a face mask. I don't know if it will clog your pores or anything, but lots of people use powdered milk masks with no problem at all.

Also, masks aren't left on your skin for a long time (like moisturizers) so the chances that they will clog your pores is probably minimized by the fact that the cocoa powder isn't in contact with your skin for very long.

If anything, after washing off the mask, follow up with a good cleanser to remove any left over residue.

Let us know how the cocoa powder mask works! =)Can I use cocoa powder as a face mask?
    no its lovely

my friend and i ade a hoemade one, and our skin was soooo soft, its very gentle. it worked for ym friend with acne/oily skin and me sensitive/cobo skin:) so have fun it tastes yummy

Questions about face powder Please see below?

I was thinking about trying Proactiv solutions face powder, but has anyone switched from a different powder to this one? does it work better?

and also has anyone tried bare essentuals? and does it work better than other face powders you have used?Questions about face powder Please see below?
yes, this made me break out crazy. what happens is the medicine in the powder brings up all the infection from your face(pimples, dirt) for about 2 months then your skin gets clear. Try mineral powder by Mary Kay.Questions about face powder Please see below?
well i guarantee you that you wil get a lot of answers saying bare essentual and proactiv is good, but then others will say they aren't

that's b/c of skin types, some ppl aren't allergic to their stuff and some are

so what's your skin type? dry? sensitive? normal? etc.

i've heard a lot of good stuff bout bare essentuals, so try tem out, it's like 8 out 10 ppl like them

as for proactiv i have friends who hate them b/ they dont do a thing and i also heard the rumor that your skin depends on it, once yous top using it, then your skin breaks out worse than before
I have used proactive, and if your under 25 you will love your results, but I was not when I tried it, I have had a problem with acne my whole life and wanted to see what my skin would look like if I was able to get rid of it, well, it got rid of every last pimple in a couple of weeks, but then I started noticing that I was beginning to wrinkle, I stopped using it and the wrinkles went away, but the acne came back. I tried Mary Kay, and have been using it ever since. They have Velocity for younger skin, and Time-wise for older skin, my face is clear and wrinkle free I am 36 years old and I still get asked for ID when I order a drink with dinner, people have mistaken me to be my husbands daughter, the kids I drive think I'm 25. lol. I have not tried the Mary Kay mineral stuff yet, but every single product I've tried in Mary Kay does EXACTLY what it sais it will. I became a consultant because I love it so much, and believe in the products. Try out my site: www.marykay.com/missbusdriverlady

What to apply in face before putting on mineral powder make up foundation?

Ive been using a mineral make up powder foundation and somehow after I put it, I notice that its not as even or the wrinkles are not filled in by the foundation even if I try to apply it evenly and spread it out well. Should I be applying something else in my face before the mineral makeup powder foundation? What to apply in face before putting on mineral powder make up foundation?
If you apply something else it might be worse, I tried a lot of the mineral powders but never liked them, what I did find and love was the liquid mineral to powder foundation by bee-luscious because it goes on liquid but drys powdery soft giving an airbrushed look with full coverage yet a light feel , you can search under bee royal products its awesomeWhat to apply in face before putting on mineral powder make up foundation?
are u moisturizing before u put on the makeup? if so, wait 5 minutes then apply makeup. if u are doing that and it still is weird, then try a Primer. i heard smashbox has a good one, as probably laura mercier (expensive tho!).... it helps fill in pores and lines, and makes makeup go on smoother.

also, remember to exfoliate ur skin every once in awhile. try a milk and brown sugar scrub :)
Try using a good moisturizer to prep your face. Does the line of mineral foundation you use sell other products? Check to see if they sell a moisturizer.
I use a light moisturizer on the dry ares of my face.Let it set a few minutes then apply makeup!

Is putting talcum powder on your face before bed bad?

Will it do more harm or good?Is putting talcum powder on your face before bed bad?
I can't see any reason why that might be good. It is also likely to clog your pores and give you acneIs putting talcum powder on your face before bed bad?
why powder try night cream instead
I agree with the first poster, it may irritate your skin since so many talcum powders are heavily scented with perfumes and you may be even allergic to some of the ingredients. I would advise to not put anything on your face at night. It will do more harm then good. Let your skin breathe at night, it heals while you are sleeping, if you are trying to make it clear up from acne or other issues, putting powder on it will only make it worse. Clean it up before bed, and let it breathe over night.

Whats the best way/ technique of applying face powder over foundation?

Using a koubouki brush put your powder on in circles moving around your face :)Whats the best way/ technique of applying face powder over foundation?
Put a small portion of the face powder into the lid, than take a blush brush and swirl it in the powder that's in the lid, tap it lightly on the side of the lid to get excess powder off, and apply the face powder lightly all over your face in a circular motion using the blush brush.

    :)

Tip: You really only need a TINY amount of the face powder to give you face a very smooth, flawless look.

Good luck!Whats the best way/ technique of applying face powder over foundation?
You can either use a really big fluffy brush and dust it all over your face, or you could even take a powder puff and press it into the skin for more of a matte look. Good luck!
With a large mineral powder brush for a natural look, for a matte look use a poweder puff and pat gently onto the face

What does compact powder do to your face?

Like what negative effect does compact for your face have.

Like does it give you more acne oily face makes you

wrinkle faster. What does compact powder do to your face?
Depending on the quality of the powder... if you -don't take it off- it will clog your pores, which will break you out, which can cause scarring, which can aid the appearance of aging, which will make your powder look worse.

Word to the wise. Worry *less about the make up, and more about your skin care routine. Cleans and moisturize before makeup in the morning. Remove makeup, cleanse, and moisturize before bed at night. What does compact powder do to your face?
it makes my skin break out..which is why i use Dinair Airbrush Makeup...its all water based so its not bad for ur skin. Ive used it for 2 years now and i love it!
I dispute that powder wrecks your skin and gives you acne. I am a lot older than you guys and I love make up. I have worn make up since I was 13. Powder - either compact or loose - will set your foundation and stop that ';glow look';. Using make up or powder doesn't make you wrinkle. If you cleanse your skin - to remove make up and dirt from the day - you will be fine.

  • Is is safe to put baby powder all over my face?

I was wondering, since I use this is place of foundation etc. It absorbs the oils and gets rid of the shiny look we all hate so much. Is this a bad idea? There are far fewer ingredient in baby powder than foundation. It has never clogged my poors, and I don't get any pimples like I did when I used more traditional make ups. Thoughts? Please and thank you!Is is safe to put baby powder all over my face?
They say whats good on a baby's buttom is surely good for your face so my opinion is: if it doesnt hurt you continue and they made it for babies so how can it hurt anyone? i use a bit myself but it never stays on i just start oiling up all over again. and its not as bad as foundation and stuff!!!Is is safe to put baby powder all over my face?
U can well go with it, no probs coz they r used to b safe as they r prepared with baby's skin in mind. Even i use Johnson's moisturiser.
    ';It has never clogged my poors, and I don't get any pimples like I did when I used more traditional make ups';

I think you already answered your own question.

Anyway... millions of people use them on their face every day. I don't see why it would NOT be safe for you.
    Baby powder is always safe
Yes, i use it to set my foundation. However, make sure you don't inhale the powder too much.

Could I use baby powder as a setting powder for my face?

    Cornstarch, not talc.

    not alot, just a little.

The only thing I'm worried about is how everyone says to keep it away from your face to avoid inhalation.. but does that apply to cornstarch baby powder as well? Thanks.Could I use baby powder as a setting powder for my face?
umm yes i have heard it is very gental on ur face like just dont actually stick ur nose up to it and sniff

like they use it on babies right so i cant be dangerousCould I use baby powder as a setting powder for my face?
No. You should use a mattifying powder that is formulated for this specific purpose. Arbonne's FC5 Mattifyung Powder does an excellent job of setting makeup. It's very inexpensive and contains only pure, botanically based ingredients.

Ladies: why did face powder and cheek rouge go out of fashion?

They didn't - or at least not for very long at any one time

Both products have been used by women since time immemorial - in this country there are records of women using face powders make of things like lead in the middle ages to lighten their complexions - very toxic!

Today rouge is almost universally known as blusher and face powders are one of the most consistent selling make-up items.

There have certainly been periods in fashion when 'natural' looks have been more popular, but blusher and powder were still part of the make-up used to create these looks

Face powder did go out of fashion for awhile in the mid 1970s, when shiny faces became very popular - certainly among the trendy. You could even buy glistening creams called 'shiner' to make your face more glowy.

Both are less popular during the summer - blush is often replaced by bronzer and powder doesn't stand up well on the beach or on holiday

Today powder is often applied with a big brush rather than a puff to give a less formal and powdery finish and blush is also applied with a lighter hand than it was in the 1980s when people often used several shades for a contouring effectLadies: why did face powder and cheek rouge go out of fashion?
i dont think it gone out of fashion, i believe the ';natural look'; came into style which means less make up, but then i believe some women got a little lakidasical in applying makeup... theres natural, and then there is naked..... I prefer the makup... it enhances natural beauty if applied properly.Ladies: why did face powder and cheek rouge go out of fashion?
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080907154302AAUzkgL
    yeah

they're still completely in fashion nowadays.
I use both and Rosy cheeks is quite fashionable.
Do you mean compact powder and blush?

    I still use 'em!
It has? Oh no don`t tell me I`ve got last years face on?

Anyone use BeneFit Get Even Face Powder?

I need help deciding between the 01 and the 02 shades. I am light to medium skin tone. I'm buying online so can't see the true colours. Is the 01 really light (suitable for pale redheads for example) or is it light to medium, or is the 02 quite dark or an average medium colour??Anyone use BeneFit Get Even Face Powder?
01 is quite light in my opinion. I have light/medium skin and find that the 02 works perfect on me. Seeing as you say that you're light to medium, 02 should be suitable for you as well.

It is an unbelievable product, you will love it.Anyone use BeneFit Get Even Face Powder?
I don't, but benefit is a brilliant make up product

When i use powder my face looks powdery?

i use cover girls pressed powder and when i finsih my make up i look at my face really good and you can tell i used powder b/c of the little pigments how can i smooth it out so it can look moire natural?

    the less products the better!!!!!!!

should i use a sponge at the end to try to smooth out the powder?does it work ?When i use powder my face looks powdery?
I found the best way to solve the ';powdery look'; is to simply take a cosmetic cotton pad, wet it, and press it gently to your face where powder is applied. It will not remove what you have on, it will simply smooth it and seal it better on your face, and get rid of the powdery look. I use bare minerals - BEST STUFF EVER!!When i use powder my face looks powdery?
I like Bare Minerals much better. It looks even nicer after wearing it a few hours.
In my experience, the best way to not look powdery is to not use powder. But, there are some ways to make your face look less powdery while using it - use a brush to buff the powder into your skin - don't use a sponge or a puff to apply it. When you're done applying your powder, spritz your face with some liquid to help set it - some good ones are Evian's mist, Aquafina's mist (available at walmart) and MAC's Fix+. After I spritz my face, I let it dry for a second then rub my hands together to warm them and press my palms gently against my face for a minute - this helps set the powder better with the warmth.
why dont you just use liquid foundation
I don't use powder very often but when I do I always apply moisturizer first and it looks well blended.
That's because you're using a low-end company powder. Most powders do tend to look cakey if you have oily skin, or if you are using too much (ie. reapplying throughout the day). Instead of reapplying, use blot paper. Switch to a different skincare regimen, particularly one that is for combination skin. Then, get a mineral based liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer which will blend much easier and be lighter on your skin. To use the liquid foundation, simply dot all over the face and blend with a wet sponge or clean fingertips.
Try loose powder. It will not be as heavy as a pressed powder. It can be a little messy but will look much better on.

Which is the best face liquid and powder foundation?

i want foundation that is really light and in hot seasons it does melt down on my face. i am looking for liquid and powder both

any ides which 1 will be the best and doesn't come out too cakey and also which is really light.Which is the best face liquid and powder foundation?
You should try Mary Kay's foundations. They have both powder and creme and you don't even feel them. It will look very natural. I am a Mary Kay consultant so if you would like to email me I could tell you more and send you a sample to try out. Let me know :)Which is the best face liquid and powder foundation?
i went to a clinique stand in macy's...she gave me 2 foundations i should use.ones liquid and ones powder.

the liquid one is :superfit makeup by clinique

the powder one is :stay matte sheer

i wear both of them and they cover up a lot but you can't even tell i'm wearing foundation, plus it absorbs oil..
The best foundation is the one that best suits you. I live in a hot and humid environment. I use Coonobabe.

The liquid foundation goes on light, and I top it off with their happy endings powder. Keeps it set for hours. So I hope this helps.

    ';Du är så vacker utan spackel, att du inte kan förstå!';

';You are so beautiful without makeupe, but you dont understand'; Roughly translated from a swedish song which is truely correct!

My opinion, girls without any makeup or crapdoesnotrlywork-creams are much cuter than others.

    =)
If you are oily, stay away from both. Choose either mousse or cream. If you are dry, I suggest misturizing liquid and then powder on top for durability.
    1. Best Foundation Stick: Bobbi Brown

Foundation sticks are great for covering blotchy skin and were made for women on the run who need a quick fix. They provide on-the-spot coverage in a flash and there's no better product than Bobbi Brown. Make sure you blend in product after applying.

.2. Best Pricey Foundation: Chanel Teint Innocence foundation

Flawless. Chanel products go on smooth and aren't drying (but they also don't add oil to your already oily skin). A plus is most come with an SPF of at least 15 -- a big bonus in moisturizers. We suggest trying out the different versions at the Chanel counter.

.3. Best Inexpensive Foundation: Revlon ColorStay Foundation

If you're going to spend money on beauty products, we usually suggest saving it up for a good foundation. But this inexpensive product is worth a try. If you have oily skin, you might want to skip this product, however. Best for women with dry skin.

.4. Best Pricey Foundation Powder: Laura Mercier

[/h3] Powder foundation tends to be more matte than sheer or satin, so it's great for women with oily skin. This product blends well %26amp; has great staying power throughout the day mainly because it comes in powder form, which is great for bringing along in your purse.

.5. Best Affordable Foundation Powder: MAC Studio Fix

We've used this powder foundation for years. The trick is to find the right shade. MAC Studio Fix is perfect for women with oily skin who want to minimize the appearance of large pores. Keep in mind you might need different shades for the different seasons of the year -- you're usually a bit darker in summer.

    .6. Best Foundation With SPF: Philosophy ';The Supernatural';

This foundation is one of the best rated and most popular on Drugstore.com. We gave it a whirl and loved how light it went on without being greasy in our t-zone spots. No wonder this foundation is much-beloved. Plus, we love that it is SPF 15.

.7. Best Tinted Moisturizer: Clarins Hydra-Care Tinted Moisturizer

Clarins consistently impresses. You'll find these light, tinted moisturizers offer great coverage without feeling heavy. And there's no better tanning product out there than Clarins. Here, you'll get the moisturizer and the tan without the need for a heavy foundation.

.8. Best Cream Foundation: Cover Girl Aquasmooth

Cream foundations offer the best of both worlds to women with dry, flaky skin: Total coverage and rich moisturizers.

.9. Best Liquid Foundation for Dark Skin: Iman Second To None Oil-Free Makeup, SPF 8

Iman is not only a famous model, she's also the creator of some of the best makeup for dark-skinned women. Her foundation comes in a variety of shades, contains 8 SPF, and it goes on with a semi-matte finish.

.10. Best Cream-to-Powder Foundations: Vincent Longo Water Canvas

This base delivers a great matte, even finish. You'll find it lighter than the creams so it's perfect for women with normal to oily skin. But a warning: This foundation can show off your dry skin and blemishes. You'll want to apply it with a sponge.

  • Is face powder alright to wear when you work out?

Its actually recommended that you dont wear any make up whilst working out. It clogs your pores. Also, when you perspire, you are continually wiping your face anyway. Smudged face powder across your face, probably not a good look. May I recommend cleansing your face and using a nice light, radiance moisturiser to make your skin look fresh. Doctor Lewinns Radiance Cream is a good one. Its light enough for you to perspire through, and your skin will look fresh..Is face powder alright to wear when you work out?
I really dont think u shud. cuz 1 if u sweat itll come off and look funny 2 it can also melt and it wont look very pretty! So just go natural and ull be okIs face powder alright to wear when you work out?
I wouldn't recommend it. It'll melt off partially and make your face look weird. It's probably best to just go without.
I recommend not wearing make up during work outs because once you start to sweat, that make up will just rub into your pores and clog them...and that is definitley not good.
You should never, never wear anything exept Moisturizer if you have dry skin, nothing if oily. Working out brings out sweat and its very important that immediately after workout, you cleanse face or your pors will clog and can develop pustules or white heads.
Mine melts, I wouldnt suggest it cause it could get real dirty.
i wouldnt if i were you because when u sweat it will come off and bunch up in one place and will look really bad. if u are working out in a gym, everyone will look like that so dont worry!! show ur natural beauty!! lol :)
Depends on how intense your workout is. It would seem to me that if you sweat a lot the powder would get weird from the moisture. I personally think it's silly to wear a lot of makeup when you work out anyway. What's the point?
Why would anyone want to wear any makeup working out!
dont you think it be nasty though when you try to clean your face
well some people think its weird becasue u sweat it off but i wear makeup wen i work out. i wear foundation, poweder, mascara. the whole kikin cabutle. i wear it becasue there is a lot of cute guys at where i work out and u gatta look hot. so ya. its ok in my book.
The only thing that is alright to wear, when sweating, is mineral make-up since it will not clog pores

Any other types will melt and make you get black/white heads or pimples

Face Powder makes my skin appear darker?

When I put on my Clinique pressed powder in the morning it blends perfectly with my skin but after about half an hour my skin looks sooo much darker but as soon as I wash it off my skins back to normal. I tried using a shade lighter but it just stayed too light all day. Why does that happen and what should I do ?????Face Powder makes my skin appear darker?
there is something wrong with Clinique.

you probably need a shade lighter than your current one and little bit darker than the lighter shade.

    i recommend bare minerals.

i bought the 60day trial pack and it lasted until this month,

its so light and the coverage is great.

and in each pack, there are two shades so if one is darker than the latter, you can mix and blend them.

also, its so good for you skin too.

after i started using bare minerals, i barely had breakouts and blemishes.

i highly recommend bare mineralsFace Powder makes my skin appear darker?
It maybe your skin is oily .Oily skin will do this with powder or turn orange
try getting a differnt shade thats justa little darker than your skin tone
Hi, I'm a makeup artist and alot of clients have come to me with a similar problem. I tell them the the best thing to do is this...

Start off by I find that you should first use a concealer to cover any dark spots you may have. Then use a foundation that is 1 shade darker than your skin tone. Than lightly dust a bit of powder over your face which is one shade lighter than you skin tone. Then apply eyeshadow. Try to go natural with a hint of dark blue with shimmer. This will brighten up your eyes and match any outfit that you wear. Then top with your fave gloss or lippy and your good to go. And maybe a bit of mascara to draw attention to your eyes.

    Hope this helps!

Why do women cover their naturally beautiful face with oils and powder and call it beauty?

I'm confused... Why do women cover their natural beauty with man-made products and call it beauty? Why do they cover their beauty to look like a clown? Some people say it's to enhance their beauty. I call it trying to look like other people. Why don't they just accept themselves for themselves. Why do they want to be someone else? Why do women cover their naturally beautiful face with oils and powder and call it beauty?
Totally agree. All that junk people put on they're face just ages they're skin and makes it worse so they feel like they have to put on more to hide the damage. I think its just a big marketing scam that's trying to make every women believe she has to pile on makeup to look beautiful.

    I mean in magazines they have articles like ';10 steps to looking gorgeous.';

Whats wrong with us in the first place? Why do women cover their naturally beautiful face with oils and powder and call it beauty?
i dont know why you are talking about being anti-negativity when you answered someone's question by saying ';STUPID QUESTION!'; Kind of hypocritical dont you think? Report Abuse

Cat fight...rowrrr....women are beautiful....if you can see past all the makeup. Report Abuse

    u look like a female.
I guess the original poster of this question is a natural beauty herself, because she clearly does not need (or want) to wear makeup.

Just wait until your 40. You'll find out how much 'natural beauty' you have left by then.

    Besides :

    1. Not everyone is 'naturally' beautiful. But even the natural beauties can 'enhance' their look with makeup. (Using the proper amount is of paramount importance though.)

    2. Makeup can give some people more confidence and feel better about their themselves. I see no problems with that.

On top of all this, if you don't like makeup, don't wear it! :)
Once you start wearing tons of makeup, your face starts to break out, and your skin gets a bit tired. Then you need all the makeup to look like you did before. Vicious cycle, no?
Isn't there someone else you would rather be?
I personally only wear mascara, eyeliner and a gloss for my lips, that's enough for me. Some women need it, others feel better with it which is more of an esteem issue(in my opinion). I never understood women that wear sooo much make up that if removed you would'nt recognize them.
Some people do not have naturally beautiful skin. It's not easy to walk around feeling self conscience, especially when a little make up can make you feel great!
its whats programed to them they see people on magazines and TV with all that make-up on and they think that's how they become beautiful
may be to cover some valleys and peaks in sur face
Some really do enhance their features with make up. But I agree with you - some women put it excessively and look ridiculous! Esp. when they powder their faces, but not their necks; when they put heavy make up for spending a day outdoors etc.
I have to agree...I think they think it makes them look ';beautiful'; But what is outward beauty when they have an inward ';ugly';? I only use a little concealer under my eyes to hide dark circles.
some people think thy need that crap but they dont
who the hell are you and why is it even your ******* business who does that??!!!
I must answer this question with another question...

    Why do you care?
    Stupid question!
I wear a little makeup. The best way to do it is try and make it look natural like you are not wearing makeup. I wear make up because I have some small scares on my face from a care accident. And I am a natural blond, so my eyelashes are very light. You don't have to look like a clown if you do it right. I think it helps me feel better about how I look. But I also don't have a problem going without makeup if I am at home or just running errands. But I wouldn't go to work without it. Hope that gives you a small idea of what you want to know.
I need to say you are right. I fell into it though, I ware eyeliner and thats about it. But i am starting to learn that a lot of people are becoming agianst the whole makeup thing. I agree with you. No one should cover there true beauty. (-:
They do it because the cosemtic industry has told them to and they believed. I agree with you 100%. A woman with make up looks like ..... a woman with makeup. I'm interested in the person, not the paint job.
    My dear,

You are asking why some woman cover their face with makeups but did you ask your self why did you chose a avatar for yourself which is looking to have make-ups on. WHY? It looks beautiful. Make-ups are not for making clowns but yes those woman who don't know the proper way to look beautiful with the help of makeups sometimes make themselves look like a clown.
    WISE QUESTION

well the simple thing is that women love to be secretive. they dont believe in revealing or DISLOSING e'thg.

thats they keep EXPERIMENTING with their look and

they believe in being thr own lamps therefore they dont confine themselves to the face that God has given them ,

they wanna keep adding smthg to it.ie they wanna make the most of it. which is i think a good thg.

    it shows PROGRESS.
I bring out my natrual beauty, I' am a femine type of pink.

My cousin used to put on heaps of make-up, my mother had a talk with her, she said that she should bring out her natrual beauty, and the health problems with putting all that stuff on her face.

You can enhance your natrual beauty with some man-made products, just choose the right one, isn't harmful, I use bar minerals, actually good for your skin.

    marydazetwen...

How is this a stupid quiestion?
    Because the world is twisted, and has the beautiful people thinking that they're ugly, and the ugly people thinking that they're beautiful, and ugly morons shouting about ';inner beauty.';
I do wear makeup, but not to look like anyone else. I'm my own person %26amp; I wear what I like because it looks good on me, not because it's in style. I wear makeup to enhance my natural beauty, for example - eyeliner brings out the color of my eyes, the same for eyeshadow. Lipstick extensuates my lips as does mascara for my eyes. I don't wear foundation or blush %26amp; I don't do dark colors.
the only thing i use is eye shadow, mascara and eye liner. and a possible powder. i dont use gawdy colors, just light pinks for eye shadow and my husband loves it. he says i look more natural with just that then i would if i used foundation and such. it just depends on what you wear and if you are wearing the right colors for your face. and i cant help but stare at women who wear clown masks. its aweful. makes makeup look aweful.

My face is dry and flakey, it looks awful when i put face powder on?

any tips on how to get my face non-flakey. it looks awful when i put my powder on in the morning. i don't use foundationMy face is dry and flakey, it looks awful when i put face powder on?
omgg i have the perfect answer use the neutrogena hand cream, even though it says ';hand'; cream u could use it anywhere u want even ur lips. i used it and it was a miracle!! not kidding, trust meMy face is dry and flakey, it looks awful when i put face powder on?
Get a face scrub like St. Ives or something to help exfoliate your skin. In winter many people's skin tends to become dry and flaky, by scrubbing it away you'll have softer skin and less dryness. Put on lotion after washing face and before putting on your make up, it help the make up go on smoother.
Try exfoliating daily with a gentle cleanser and applying a high-quality moisturizer. You can find them at Rite-Aid or Wal-Mart, or pretty much anywhere. Acne medications usually dry out your skin, so use only as much as necessary.
use lotion before you put any dry makeup on! AND i noticed this too, if you are using any acne cream, this may cause your skin to become dry.
use a good moisturizer or Smashbox primer.
    Moisturize first....
buy proactiv or 1 of those shittty ance healers

Can anyone recommend a really good loose powder for your face that controls oil and shine?

I'm looking for a loose powder - light or translucent - that controls oil and shine and gives a natural yet flawless look. I had someone use a product on me that was by lancome or a similar brand - can't remember which. But it was AMAZING. Any thoughts? I'd especially like to hear from makeup artists. Can anyone recommend a really good loose powder for your face that controls oil and shine?
MAC's loose powders are the best.

    http://www.maccosmetics.com/templates/pr?/a>

The shades are fabulous, the quality is up there.

You can also buy these face priming items that control shine before you put on your makeup over it. Mac's Prep + Prime is a good one:

It's an ultra-fluid lotion formulated with special-effect silicones. Calms and soothes the skin, blots away excess oil, and evens out skin redness. Improves the laydown and application of foundation or powder. Can anyone recommend a really good loose powder for your face that controls oil and shine?
    well, i'm using Kose...

i'd not say that it's fabulous but it's good. and i especially love the powder puff.
The best i found was a powder cream. It's cover girl, and I found in the makeup section of wal-mart lol. it was about $8.00 ca, or something like that. It works really good, and doesn't leave you looking, or feeling, like you are wearing face paint.
The best powder I have found is the sheer cover, it adjusts to your own natural color and it looks absolutely flawless.....I LOVE IT!
I use Covergirl Compressed powder, to control shine. It works really well. I just have to re-apply it about once though. It is only about $5.00.
    Well I have moose foundation.

    It's by.. maybelline

but it's not a powder or a liquid.

It is a moose so it goes on and blends really

well.. also it's not sticky or heavy

so it's awesome. Seeing as it's a moose it definately controls oul and shine.

It covers all of my flaws.

    I couldn't live without it.

Mixing face powder to match skin color?

i bought a face powder that is too dark or my complexion and i am not able to return it. can i mix the darker shade with translucent face powder so it can match my skin tone? or would i need another color to lighten the darker shade i will mix the two colors in a container not on my face. any suggestions are greatly appreciated. thank you for your answers!Mixing face powder to match skin color?
Yes, Yes, Yes. With makeup it is great to think out of the box. You can mix and make your own products. So I would not get a translucent because it has no color, I would get a lighter color powder or get a white powder and mix it until it closer to your skin color. I love Ben Nye Loose Powders, I got every color in my kit, I would suggest getting the white one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Super-White-3-oz-Bot?/a>Mixing face powder to match skin color?
I'm not sure if mixing it with a translucent powder would lighten it in the way you want. Maybe if you mixed a more cream/foundation powder with the existing one you could get a smoother blend... in that case I would recommend going to the drugstore/cosmetics counter applying a whole lot of samples on the back of your hand and custom mixing with the one you have..... time consuming but that's the only way to find the PERFECT blend. (I have done this with concealer before).
r u talking about foundation? You should get a powder that matches your skin tone. The best foundation/or powder your talking about is Mineral Power. Thats the best foundation for your skin, and it looks natural.

Studio Fix by MAC is great! It is a full coverage foundation/powder. There are many shades, so you will be able to find a close match. Not good for very dry skin, though.
i use MAC studio fix foundation in NC25 shade... it has a variety of shades for all skin colors.. they have sales people who can help you choose the right shade for you.. good luck

Bare Minerals is a great product. You should include what brands you've tried already so you don't get repeats. Hopefully I gave you a new idea!
I am using a Avon product at the moment, and its great, it goes on as a foundation and the finish results is a powder, so I dont have to carry around both I just have the all-in one.

How can I keep powder bronzer on my face?

I use a powder bronzer, and it seems like every time I rub my face, the powder comes off. Is there anything I should put on before I put the bronzer on?How can I keep powder bronzer on my face?
Of course you should moisturize first, but also apply a facial primer to your face as well. It works a lot like a paint primer; it basically helps the makeup go on evenly and it will *not* go away. lol. I use the face primer by Studio Gear. A little pricey but so very worth it.How can I keep powder bronzer on my face?
You can try using a gel bronzer instead or just mix a small amount with your moisturizer. Like everyone else has said, applying moisturizer first is very important to keep makeup lasting longer.
Moisturizer. Powder won't stick without any moisture.
I always put my bronzer on underneath my foundation, but on top of my moisturizer. After I've washed my face, I apply an spf lotion and let it set in for about five minutes so it sinks into any dry patches. Then dust the bronzer on and blot any excess with a bit of tissue. Then I do my foundation. It's a lot more subtle that way and isn't going to go anywhere.
Don't apply bronzer powder to bare skin for best results. Try translucent powder first, over foundation or moisturizer. Hope it helps!
use creamy bronzer and mix it with your foundation
I mix bronzer with moisturizer, so it absorbs better.

Also, benefitcosmetics has something called she-laq (sp?) and you put it on over your makeup and it becomes waterproof.

What do you do when you put too much powder on your face?

I have loose powder and sometimes I put too much on my face. since i wear foundation underneath, the powder sticks to the makeup and is hard to remove. What do you do when you put too much powder on your face?
Try using a more translucent powder. If your already applying foundation then just try that. It will set the foundation, but you wont notice if you go a little overboard on the application. What do you do when you put too much powder on your face?
I would slightly moisten a cotton ball and dab it on the spots where you put too much powder. That should pick up the excess. If you don't already, use a clean cotton ball to apply the powder and again, dab it on lightly.
If you use a liquid foundation, let it dry before applying the powder. If the foundation is wet, the powder will stick to it. If it's dry, you shouldn't have this problem. If you do end up applying too much powder, you can easily blot it off with a tissue or cottonball. What are you using to apply the powder with? If you are using the sponge that comes with it it can go on to heavy. Try using a brush or makeup sponge.
use a lotion or water..it comes off without removing the foundation.
    Yeah I've done that myself.

I keep a big clean kabuki brush just for that occasion and I just buff it in circles until I see some skin.

But the brush has to always be clean!!!
Use blotting paper or a sponge, and very softly take off the excess powder...
brush it off with large powder brush. if its still there then dampen face cloth with water and wipe it off gently

Has anyone used the MAC mineralized loose powder for your face?

I kind of curious to see what its like. I usually only buy eye make up and blushes because i think their foundations look too fakish. So i was wondering if anyone has used this product. Is it natural looking and light weighted. And is the coverage good?Has anyone used the MAC mineralized loose powder for your face?
it really depends on ur skin and how much product you use.

I use it on my clients and its very light, it gives a nice finish and helps keep ur foundation in place. i would recommend it

again try mixing it with some moisturizer and you can use it instead of foundation. this is a very light alternative when its hot outside and you dont want to wear anything heavy on ur skin.

MACOily Faced People- What face powder do you use?
I realised that face powder / foundations aren't the factor in controlling oil.

It is actually the moisturizer. And a primer helps greatly too.

I have tried many types of oil-controlling foundations/powders, but nothing gives the matt effect for more than 2 hours.

But when I tried wearing a primer under my makeup, my face is very much visibly less oily.

I use MAC prep+prime by the way. its a great product.Oily Faced People- What face powder do you use?
    Hi,

I think that you should use hf mineral rice powder. Its designed to absorb oily skin and also absorb perspiration when it occurs without affecting all your other makeup. Clients say that it really works.

THIS LOOKS WHITE BUT IS --- APPLIED ---- CLEAR (TRANSLUCENT) its correct name is 'rice setting powder' #211

you can get it from shop.beautybyme.net and its $17.45
You should really use Clean %26amp; Clear Deep Cleaning astringent for sensitive skin. It really helped with the oiliness. Anyway, i use Sephora Matifying compact foundation.

PS%26gt; Dont waste money on bare minerals, it sucks.
Try puritycosmetics.co.uk. It is really good!
bare minerals is the best!!!!!! is like 25$ without the brush but almay makes a good translucent powder u can try oil sheets too it takes the shine away
    Covergirl pressed powder!
NYC holds up best on me.

Other good brands are Covergirl %26amp; E.L.F.
    Physicians Formula
bear minerals!!! its so good and it wont make you breakout! and it will obsorb the oil
    I use covergirl
    Mac blot powder in dark.

How to prevent clumping of powder on the face?

I have a clear skin, however i like to use a little makeup, but when i use normal powder with a brush it gets my face looking like it's spotty (or clumpy), not sure how to explain it

so how do i prevent it? I put v.little yet it still clotsHow to prevent clumping of powder on the face?
You need to use a good brush or applying pad and make sure you have blended it in properly. It could also be because you dont use something creamy underneath, like liquid foundation or moisturising cream. Try changing your powder to loose mineral make up rather than compressed powder. Kabuki brushes are exellent for powder make up, but alot of companies are making cheap versions of them so watch out, You want a brush that has soft, very flexible bristles. How to prevent clumping of powder on the face?
Make sure you put on a moisturiser or a primer first, to act as a base. Don't apply too much powder, just enough to take away the shine and even your skin-tone.

As the first answerer said, kabuki brushes are excellent, my make-up has always looked flawless since I started using them
When you put your powder on the brush, puff, or sponge, whatever you chose to use, tap it, to get the excess out of it. If you do still have too much, wipe it off or use a brush. Also try not to bear down as much on the powder.
Use a foundation brush like this http://www.arianepoole.com/shop/images/f?/a>

It's very smooth, and very good spreading out the powder.
It might be your brush. if so use a kabuki brush cause they are the best with powders.

Is ';translucent'; face powder really translucent, or is that just a name?

I have tan skin, a bit too shiny... and while looking for the right shade of powder to deal with it, I get lost - I don't wanna look like I'm ';whitening'; my face if you know what I mean.

So would this ';translucent'; stuff work?

Thank you :)Is ';translucent'; face powder really translucent, or is that just a name?
yes. translucent is just like a finishing powder or a veil. i used to use it as a foundation but now i use this and almay powder foundation. but its just a white powder than doesnt show up on your skin it just sets the tone for your skin. its a great product to use. try it in maybellineIs ';translucent'; face powder really translucent, or is that just a name?
Some powders that claim to be ';translucent'; actually have a bit of color to them that can leave your face looking lighter.

If you want a good one, use MakeUpForever's HD Powder - many of the make-up artists I work with (I'm a photographer) love this powder for finishing their look. I also personally use it.

    http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jh?/a>

I also use Dermablend setting powder too sometimes - which also doesn't leave any color residue.
Translucent face powder is only there for one thing - making your face look less oily.

It has no pigment in it.

    Answer mine? Thankyou :)

Which liquid foundation/all over face powder is best for very dry skin?

after i wash my face in the morning, i apply moisturizer, and this is supposed to stop my skin fron bein so dry, but it just doesn't do the trick. is there a foundation i can buy that moisturizes while serving as an all over cover face?Which liquid foundation/all over face powder is best for very dry skin?
I would stop washing your face in the morning. Only wash it once a day so as not to strip it of oils. Wash at night, to remove all the gross stuff your face absorbed during the day. Then moisturize both day and night. Or, in the morning you could use a tinted moisturizer, which is like both a moisturizer and a light foundation. I would skip foundations made for older people because they generally have oil in them, which can create acne.Which liquid foundation/all over face powder is best for very dry skin?
I think you better consult a dermatologist for a specific moisturizer.

Try to avoid make-up right now you`re sooo young, and you should take care of your skin not hide it.

Make-up should be a the icing on the cake to enhance your skin and not a mask to hide behind it.
What kind of moisturizer do you use? I know I have dry skin too and I use polypeptide cream for 50 year olds, it is the only thing that works! As for foundation, that is hard, I like the liquid minerals, it can make any skin look good.

Try using (colored) oil blotting papers. You can find them at cosmetic counters or beauty supply stores (like Sally's).I use loose powder but my face shine in the middle of the day?
avon makes a wonderful product called oil mattifier.. it is a lotion consistancy, goes on nice and helps to keep the shinies away during the day.. I use it everyday..
Use foundation first. That will create a base for powder to stick to and not slide right off.
You need a good oil control cleanser to start with. Try Tru-Porefection Refining Cleanser by Avon. Then try a oil control lotion. Clinique makes a few good ones. Then in the afternoon try a oil control powder. Hope this helps
Use an oil absorbing powder in those trouble ares.

Is it ok to put baby powder on the face to minimize oiliness?

I have relatively clear skin, minimal pimples, some blackheads on nose and forehead. The problem is that without even reaching noon, my face is already very shiny and oily. the blue oil strips hardly do any good and i don't have time to wash my face in school since I have to rush from one class to another. I saw a female classmate put baby powder on her face and I wondered if this was what kept her face from not looking so oily. I can't put on powder make up since I'm a guy but is it ok to put baby powder? will it stop or minimize my very oily and shiny face without causing me to get acne or blackheads? would you have any other tips to minimize oil or atleast stop my face from shining? thanks so much!Is it ok to put baby powder on the face to minimize oiliness?
if your too oily, don't use powder as this will clog your pores and can cause break outs, instead, go on oil blotting FILM (since you are on school) not paper because film absorbs more oil than papers. and relax, because the more you think it, the more oil your face will produce.ok? good luck.Is it ok to put baby powder on the face to minimize oiliness?
You need to find a regime and do it twice a day - without fail

after place a stidex type pad over your face - if you used a spray toner your pores would balance and less oily skin.

Do you use a shampoo for oily hair

Baby powder for chafing not oily skin. Sorry it will clog your pores.

If you found a regime twice a day - and stuck to it

your skin will be in better shape.

Try a mineral powder foundation it covers yet absorbs some oil - and look in to acne free -

or an acne wash, toner and cream -

repeat at night, before you wash at night take a very hot compress to your face to draw out oil, dirt.

A mask once a week for oily skin

    twice a week exfoliate -

Your skin may adjust and be worse before it settles in and glows.
I do that on really hot days when my face gets oily. It works for me. As long as you don't have some kind of reaction to it and you put on properly you should be fine. :)
i herd of people doing that but me personaly never tried it .
I wouldn't do it on a regular basis, because the powder will mix with the oil in your skin and form a paste that will clog your pores and could cause breakouts.

Is it okay to put baby powder on your face to soak up excess oil?

I've heard before that putting baby powder on your face to soak up oil on your skin is alright. I've tried it...seems to work. But I have noticed a couple of pimples ( but they could be caused by starting school stress, parental divorce and my period) My mom says that I shouldn't do this.

What do you think? Is it okay to put baby powder on your face to soak up excess oil?
I've never heard this, but I'd imagine it's clogging your pores and causing the pimples. Instead, be sure to wash your face at least twice a day (but especially at night) and just buy some oil absorbing sheets.. Clean %26amp; Clear ones are good as well as Covergirl, and they get all the oil off without messing up your makeup if you wear any and it doesn't involve putting something on your face that might make things worse. Is it okay to put baby powder on your face to soak up excess oil?
once i broke out all over my front and back from the first day of softball. i was scared and my mom told me to put baby powder all over, and it was gone in like 2 days. all of it
use clean and clear face cream that has 10 percent benzyl peroxide in it

It works better if you use liquid foundation and moisturizer otherwise it gets caked.

How many times should a girl apply powder to her face throughout the day.?

If this girl has an oily T-zone? Does anyone know any remedies for controlling an oily T-zone say throughout an 8 hour work day?How many times should a girl apply powder to her face throughout the day.?
blotting papers work best...your face will thank you as well and you will not look like a ';cakeface'; Clean and Clear has some...Inexpensive as well. Good luck! How many times should a girl apply powder to her face throughout the day.?
I have an oily T-zone. I wear powder daily, and when it kinda wears off in my T-zone, I pat it with wax paper.
buy a oil free and apply compact powder as many times as you want to help control shine also they sell those little towlettes to tap the shine off your face
it depends on how much you want to cover up.
If its cheap drug store probably every 5 minutes . I highly recommend Bee Luscious Cosmetics liquid powder mineral foundation and matching mineral pressed powder one application you will be flawless ALL DAY no re application needed. To help control the oily T-zone you need the Papaya Enzyme cleanser and the Skin Vitality mineral mist , the retexturizing primer is transparent and a little goes a very LONG WAY you will be great and good to go for the entire day PLUS ...
depends on how oily ur skin is

keep checkin ur nose for an oily shine. if its shiney ypu need to do ur powder
i wouldnt apply powder if i were you

    it clogs up your pores.

instead use a good cleanser. use it in the mornings, and if your face looks really greasy in the middle of the day, use it again then.

but no more than 3 times a day unless you live in a seriously polluted area
It all depends on the type of skin you have. And the product you are using.
