With a bronzer brush (yes, there is such a thing) sweep the color lightly all the places the sun would hit. Your chin, cheeks, nose, and forehead. Use sparingly and apply more as needed. I usually do this after foundation, before blush and powder.
Powder or Liquid? I like VS powder bronzer and the you would use a brush and apply anywhere on your face that the sun normally hits, like your forehead, tops of your cheeks, bridge of nose, chin

mine came with a little pad and you just put it on your face. with mine i can use a lot, if i blend it in, and look really tan and healthy
a blusher brush dab a little on the brush blow apply lightly
